James fell asleep at the start of the Olympic Gold Medal Hockey Game today, so there was some silent cheering going on whilst the nap ensued - however he woke up just in time for overtime and we won! Hoooooray! He's a natural flag waver and after the medal ceremony we went for a family walk (let's be honest, it was in hopes of inducing my labour) and he held and waved the flag the whole way! He liked it when people honked at him too! Such a fun afternoon! Proud to be from the best place on earth!

A little family outing

We went out to White Rock this afternoon to enjoy the beautiful weather and to spend some quality family time together as our little threesome will become a foursome soon! We had a great time walking along the pier, stopping for smoothies and then getting some delicious sushi for a picnic - both of which James inhales! Such a nice time together! I love my boys!

p.s. thanks to Papa G for my new Canada Olympic Hockey Jersey! I got tons of compliments!!

First Hockey Game!

Geoff took James to see a Vancouver Giants game yesterday as they have been relocated out to the new events centre in Langley, while the Olympics are on. It was a 5pm start, so we thought it would be perfect. I loaded them up with snacks, treats and a juice box (a fav if he can get his hands on one) and thought they'd be able to last a good while with stuff to do. I got a call around 5:20pm to say they were on their way home. It was a bit of a stretch for James, maybe too young, too loud, too boring....who knows...they tried and all the treats were gone and it was time to come home. They did manage in that 20 minutes to see two goals and a fight, so Geoff felt his $20 wasn't put to complete waste! James did however love the Tiger mascot and chased him around the stadium!

I got my belly painted yesterday by a friend and it was so much fun! We did a few different ones - one of which I won't show because we did the two possible baby names, with a little peanut underneath as we call our wee one affectionately Peanut...I'll share those after the baby is born!

The Torch Relay!

We headed down to Cloverdale yesterday to catch a glimpse of the Olympic Torch Relay! It was super busy, which upset James - not to mention he has no idea what he's waiting for and why everyone is honking. Needless to say we saw it go by and shared in the community spirit, which was alive in Cloverdale!

I've been lacking in the blogging department lately because I've been resting so much and been needing so much help with James (and thus haven't been taking very many photos). Luckily my mom has been around on Geoff's shifts to fill in for me and has been taking lots, so here are a few of the goings on...

My New Big Boy Room!

Over the past few months, we have been working on turning our office and spare guest room into James' new big boy room, to make room for our new baby! We didn't show him the room as we worked on it but finally couldn't resist taking him into his new room yesterday! We still plan on using the nursery crib for a while, but will move everything else over (clothes etc.) soon so that he isn't too confused with having two rooms. Needless to say he LOVED his new room, especially his big boy bed! As you can see, there's a little bit of a theme going on...

Since we love dogs, but not enough to get one and James is obsessed with my parents dog, Lexi, he has a miniature version that he loves to take care of each day. He makes sure she is always fed and gives 'little Lexi' lots of cuddles. I caught him kissing her at snack time yesterday and sharing his crackers with her, even though she has her own dog food (shredded wheat)!

An Early Christmas in Victoria

We just got back from a great trip to Victoria for an early Christmas and to meet baby Freya! We had an awesome time and crammed in lots of fun visits and events!

We have a little snow right now and after a few tries of convincing James it's safe to walk and play in - he was ready! We have the only little hill on our street so we take advantage with our wee sled!

Playin' at Captain Kids

We took James out to play at Captain Kids (I know, we'd never heard of it either) today, as friends of ours were heading out there. It's at the large ice rink in Walnut Grove and is only $2! James loved and I mean LOVED going down the big kids slide with Geoff! Took a video of one time down the scariest slide I'd ever think to take him on but he couldn't get enough of it. Not a place I could take James alone right now as lots of climbing involved, but a great place for Geoff to take James and give Mom a nice break!! hint hint...

They actually got air on these jumps and as soon as James was at the bottom he was signing for 'more' and running to the stairs!

This was the steepest slide I've ever seen!

I accidentally took this length-wise and can't rotate it, so you have to rotate your head to watch - the funniest part is when he's all done, he likes to watch the kids behind him and then runs like a maniac to get back on!

More Christmasy Fun!

We've been having lots of fun lately with Christmas coming! James loves the tree and looking through his Santa book. We jingle lots of bells and sing lots of songs! Here are some of the things we've been up to this week:

Santa Parade in Cloverdale (didn't actually turn out to be that fun - it was freezing and James was fairly miserable and I don't blame him...but we managed to stay for a few minutes and see some floats go by)

Here James is playing with new playdough he got from a play group we attend. He never liked playdough until this week (maybe because he got his own!)

Every morning we put up a new ornament on the advent calendar from Grandma!

"I think it should go there!"

Only 14 days until Santa comes!

Santa stopped by another playgroup we attend and although he was shy at first, he did come around and manage to get pretty close to him (even sharing his eggs he made!)

Still wouldn't sit on his lap, but that's ok - we got a great shot! Santa let James ring his bells! HOHOHO!

Tree Trimmin'

Once again we took James out to cut down our Christmas tree for the year! Needless to say he wasn't thrilled about being bundled up and out in the bush (well the Christmas tree farm) but we managed to escape without injury and a beautiful tree to decorate!

I recently decided it would be nice to have a small children's table and chairs in our kitchen for James, so that he could learn to have snacks in a chair and keep busy with random things while I work in the kitchen. I also decided to try and have new things at his table after each time he wakes up (a bowl and whisk, plastic cutlery and fruit, his stuffy's reading books, crayons etc.) so that it can be exciting....'what or who's at the table today?!'

This morning James was thrilled to see his friend Upsy Daisy reading a book, so after a few minutes he ran to get other friends to share his milk and cheerios with. He was able to happily occupy himself for about 20 minutes, which is pretty good around our house! He was so cute sharing his food and milk with everyone...

Geoff and I managed to sneak away to Whistler for two nights this week and we left James overnight for the first time with my parents. We had no worries that he would have tons of fun and be well taken care of. I also haven't taken very many pictures lately as I'm usually away from the camera and am feeling too big to jump up and get it every time he does something cute!

Remembering

Today we took James to the White Rock Legion, for his first Remembrance Day ceremony! He was very well-behaved and loved seeing the parade of people marching past! Afterwards he saw lots of fire trucks! James has many Great-Grandfathers who fought for the freedom in our country and we are very proud of them!

Just two short years ago...

And now our pumpkin carved his first pumpkin...well scooped out goop at least!

James was not very happy to get his costume on, but once he got alot of attention, he was all over it!

We had a great early evening with our neighbours' grandson, Cole, playing outside and trick or treating!

James loved walking up to people's houses and knocking on the doors! He even began to steal Cole's candy! How rude!

We dressed our little Peanut up as a pumpkin just for fun!! What a great night!

We had our 18 week ultrasound this morning and it showed our very active and apparently hungry baby - it made lots of jaw thrusts and open/closed mouth movement and didn't sit still the whole time! Does that mean I have another wiggle worm to welcome into the family?! We have another 20 weeks or so to wait!

Pumpkins Galore!

We were invited back to our friends family's farm, where we spent a great day in the summer! The weather was beautiful and the leaves the same! This time it was pumpkin season and across the street from them is Hazelmere Farm, so after a hot dog and some playing - we hopped into the tractor and headed over!

We caught another huge tractor to the pumpkin fields and also went through their corn maze.

James had a great time picking and lifting (with his big muscles) his perfect little pumpkin!

Pumpkins are special to us because we found out about James just before Halloween two years ago and called him pumpkin in my belly!

Afterwards we visited the petting zoo on site

And rode in the tractor home!

I posed for my 18 week photo this week with our two little pumpkins and peanut (baby #2)! James likes squatting over his pumpkin!

James and I just returned home after 4 days in Victoria with his Grandma! Papa G was in Australia playing in the World Masters Games and Grandma is heading down on Friday for a month, so we had to get in a last visit. We had a great time with lots of visits from friends and family.

We took a jaunt to Caddy Bay Beach, where my mom grew up and I also grew up playing with my Grandparents! It was quite fun to watch James have a blast there - especially when he took a liking to log-walking. I'm pretty certain I crossed that whole beach on logs when I was a kid!

It's Potty Time with Elmo!

We bought a potty for James, as he has been obsessed by ours lately (flushing, toilet paper, saying goodbye etc.) and found a great little talking Elmo potty, which he loves even more! I went Amazon.ca and found some matching books and DVD's, called Potty Time with Elmo (get it? Party time!)

So I get home from an appointment the other day and Geoff casually mentions that James has pooped on the potty! Woah, this is major! For a while, we would just be excited if he sat on it for more than 2 seconds. He loves to sit and read his book now. We aren't too worried if he's going because I think he'll catch on in his own due time - but it's fun to try!

I'm sorry to embarrass you in the future buddy, but hey - everybody poops!

Out to Support a Friend!

Today James and I did the Autism Speaks Walk for charity with some great friends! What a beautiful sunny day we had to be walking around Vancouver!

After the walk we moved and grooved to Gerry and the Atrics! Apparently a big fan with James - but where is everyone else?!
And we twirled around and danced!

What a great morning we had which reminded me how thankful I am for our sweet boy!

Tonight at the dinner table we taught James how to flex and show off his big muscles! He added in his own grunt and hilarious facial expressions when doing it, which cracked us up for quite a while! After dinner we took my weekly belly picture and James went ahead and stole my thunder, by flexing his big muscles again!

A Vacation to Tigh-Na-Mara!

We just returned from an awesome, but too short, vacation to Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville, on Vancouver Island. What a great little vacation place for families! James loved their new playground and had a blast on the beach that goes for miles! We went to celebrate my Dad's early 60th birthday party! And the best part was that Grandma and Papa G took James in their room! Moms first nights away were FANTASTIC! Sleeping for 10 hours straight two nights in a row is a must for Moms and Dads!

James gave Papa G a homemade frame that he painted all by himself!

Thanks for treating us Grandma and Papa G! We'll come back ANYTIME!

To all my fans...

James, his Grandma and I spent a great afternoon down at White Rock Beach on Thursday. We dressed for cool weather, but it was really hot and gorgeous out! We had a lovely stroll on the pier while sharing a Booster Juice. Then had sushi on the patio at Geoff and I's favorite restaurant, where we had our first and many subsequent dates. James was good as gold, especially when he got to play with chopsticks!

We then had a great time rolling around the plush lawn with million dollar views!

When James wears sunglasses. we tell him he's a movie star and to wave to all his fans - which he now does - it's quite cute...but he also waves at the shopping carts when we leave a store...so who knows what he's getting?!

The Great Escape

Today we met our friends at the Great Escape indoor play place down in Langley. Word or caution: never go on a Sunday. Probably even a Saturday for that matter! It was crazy with screaming back-to-schoolers getting out their final flings of the summer! Luckily there were only a handful of kids in the toddler only section. James loved going down the big slide by himself!

He was a very happy boy today and very tired when we left!

My dear friend Jill visited the other day with her daughter Ava, who is 7 months old now. They were on vacation from Toronto and unfortunately James had his cranky pants on for the visit, so the pictures weren't quite as we had hoped!

Finally, it only took 14 1/2 months to get some help in the kitchen from James! We had a great time spinning and breaking lettuce for our caesar salad tonight! Thanks bud, it was delicious, even the teeny tiny bites!

James is going to be a BIG BROTHER in March 2010! We can't wait to meet the last member of our family and see who is going to finish off our little foursome!

When I was pregnant with James, we took weekly pictures in the same spot as the second one here, to observe the bump grow, so we are doing the same this time, although James gets to be in the pics too! This was from last night, week 12!

A trip to the Island!

James and I just returned from a week on Vancouver Island, where we attended my cousins wedding and then went to my family cabin for 6 days! Geoff was also with us, but his trip was cut short as he had to come home and work:(

James adjusted to the cabin well and loved to be outside, whether it was popping bubbles with Lexi (parents dog), driving the boat (a fav!), playing ping pong, walks around the campground nextdoor, throwing rocks off the dock, baths in the sink, morning cuddles with Grandma and and I can't forget we went tubing! Woohoo! We had a great time and had too many pics to post, but here are the highlights!

Geoff just competed in the World Police and Fire Games, hosted by Vancouver, this past week! James came out to the field for two whole days of fast rugby 7's action!

On our way home from Mable Lake, we stopped by Noey's house in Vernon for a sleep over! We love to visit their amazing house and get spoiled with fabulous food and views! James and Noey had a great time playing 'together'.

Annual Mable Lake Trip!

We just returned home from 4 great days at Mable Lake, in the interior. Geoff's Mom rents a cabin there for two weeks every summer! As always, it was hot hot hot when we were there (30+ each day). Surprisingly, the cabin was fairly baby proof and had a great sun room with tons of windows and just a couch so it was a great safe place for James to scatter all his toys and muck about! He loved playing with the rocks on the beach and eating!

James and I went to Salt Spring Island to visit my friend Jill and her 5 1/2 month old daughter Ava for the night. Jill's parents have an amazing place on Salt Spring right on the water with tons to do! James was mostly enthralled by their dog, Taylor, a nice older golden retriever and their fat cat MacIntyre!

He he is enjoying a nice dinner with a beautiful view!

Jill and I have the same picture of the two if us from 2003 without kids and beers in our hand...where have those days gone?!

Yay, the kids are asleep! We enjoyed a fabulous dinner, by Jill's Mom, Karen, who might just be my favorite chef!

A Really Good Effort...

Last month, Geoff and I reserved a camping spot at Golden Ears Provincial Campground for July 7, knowing he was on holidays and that as we reserved - we couldn't back out! Since we have been pretty much in a drought lately, we figured it would be a great family trip with James! Did anyone see the forecast?

We packed up (probably spent at least 5 cumulative hours between us) for one night and made our way...arriving in good spirits around noon!

I took James over the playground to allow Dad to set up our one tarp. One.

This was after our short trip to the playground where James did his first face plant onto the ground and soaked his shoes and socks. Outfit # 1 of 5 gone, within 20 mins!

After setting up and a very brief nap for James in the tent, we set off to the beach...

After the beach we checked out the tent which already had a flat air mattress for sleeping and water on the bedding...

...it was about 2 seconds after I took this that James did his third face plant of the day into a large puddle (ruining and soaking through outfits #2 & #3 that were layered)....we realized how smart we were...

...because of how wet and miserable we were...

...to be packing up and going home to our warm house, dry clothes and comfy beds! Home by 6pm, James asleep by 7:30!

Oh rainy camping...you got the best of us!

At least we were laughing when we pulled out and thought how funny we must have looked to the people across the road from us who watched us set up for 2 hours and take down for 1 hour, in a 5 hour camping trip!

Maybe next year?

We had another awesome family day today, as Geoff is on holidays! We took James to Krause Berry Farm to pick berries and get muddy! Their was a great petting zoo that he went in first with goats, bunnies, horses and more. He had tons of fun walking down the raspberry aisle helping us pick. Man, you should have seen it...normally I would have posted pictures of it...but I FORGOT MY CAMERA! Darnit! He was in his element...eating, playing with dirt - it was so fun! Afterwards we sampled some great bread in their store and then went to the bakery windown and watched the ladies make pies, whilst eating warm blackbery pie! These were the same pies we had at our wedding, instead of cake...and they are to die for! James was a hit with all the ladies and they thought he was adorable with his dirty shirt, blackberry stained mouth and big smile! Such a fun time - we will go back soon for sure, camera in tote! I did capture one cute pic of the day when James passed out in the car ride home, so sweet with blackberry still all over his face!

A Green Dinner Date

Tonight we had a great dinner made with mostly foods from our pesticide-free (organic?) garden! It was delicious...well two of us thought so! We had cauliflower with a curried-cheese sauce and a great salad with prawns!

Farm Aid 2009

Today we had an awesome time at our friends parents gorgeous estate, where they decided to hold the first annual Farm Aid Camp Out! Needless to say I am already home and James is in his crib, thus we did not camp! But we had an awesome fun filled day at the farm and James was dog tired, especially because we pushed his bedtime back an hour.

One Fish Two Fish

James & I got home from Victoria today after I suffered a terrible neck injury last Saturday took the wind out of my sails...Geoff took James and I to Victoria last weekend so that my parents could take care of us, as he had to work all week. What a terrible week I had - James had lots of fun though and I will post some pics of that when I get some.

So tonight we had a family date night and took ourselves down to White Rock for some Fish & Chips! Yes, I was the parent one year ago who thought I would never feed my one year old fish and chips for dinner, but things change!

And he loved it! It was such a beautiful night and we had a blast being together after 6 days apart! James missed his Daddy so much, so did I!

James loves to be outside. Period. Take him out and he'll happily play all day...just like yesterday! We went to an outdoor charity volleyball tournament in White Rock and he ran around happily for hours...we drove home, he slept 2 hours like a log and as soon as he woke up we went back and he stayed outside until 7:45. We popped him into the bath and was K-O'd from 8pm-7:30am! That fresh air does wonders!

The First to Give Back!

We were inspired by a friend's sister to give back to the community for James' First birthday this week. We wanted to do this to give thanks for what we have and try to help others who are not as fortunate as us. We also felt like he wouldn't know at this point if he wasn't getting a present from us so perhaps in the future when he sees these pictures, he'll understand the importance of giving back!

We opted to purchase baby food and donate it to the Langley Food Bank, so Grandma and I hauled off to Superstore and cleared some shelves! (Yes, we usually take our own bags, but since we were donating, opted for plastic)

We took James to the Food Bank and as it was quiet, we got a great tour from a volunteer. They were thrilled with the donation and took James' info to write him a thank you card!

A big thank you to Grandma, Papa G and all of James' Great-Grandparents (Mollie, Ken, James and Lorraine) for their generous donations too! xox

I'm 1 today! Hip hip hooray! I had a fun birthday party on the weekend with so many family members and friends! I also got spoiled, despite my parents rule of no presents...tee hee hee!

Mom and Dad were surprised that I didn't like cake - too sweet for me - I'd rather eat chips and dip (just like my Mom). What a fun year I've had! Thanks to everyone who came around and spoiled me all weekend!

James went to his first dentist appointment today for a check up! So of course, embarassing Mom had to take pictures! We went to a great pediatric dentist in Langley and aside from a few tears upon examination - he had a great time playing in their jungle themed office! At first, he tried to bolt for the door!

Tonight we had a nice was outside after dinner! Half way through James wanted to walk so we "1-2-3 weeeeed" all the way home, with brief stops to pet some friendly pups!

Today James and I ventured out to West Vancouver to visit his Auntie Jilly and her beautiful daughter, Ava (4 months) who flew out from Toronto! James slept the whole way there so was ready to play when we got there. He was so gentle with her and seemed to instinctively know that she was delicate. It was quite sweet to watch him pat her on the head, walk around her when she was sleeping on the floor and share his stuffed puppy dog with her!

We went on a lovely walk to the beach and got to play on some swings with a million dollar view! Check out her adorable mary jane shoe socks! Cutest socks ever!

Unfortunately, our visit was cut short, as James wouldn't nap in the pack and play, so we packed it up and drove home...he was asleep within 4 blocks until our driveway! We hope to get over to Salt Spring Island in July for another visit!

A Weekend in Victoria!

But first....a ridiculously cute picture of James from this morning, actually wearing his fire hat (shirt wasn't planned!) We've been trying to get this hat on him for months!

James and I went to Victoria for three nights and well the first exciting thing about being there was that he actually slept through the night there! A first, or three I should say!

Yay!

We had fantastic weather and spent a lot of time outside. Here is James on the beach out front of my parents house looking for crabs!

James met a new friend, Baker (on left) and saw his friend (Will) for a fun play date! Baker and Will are cousins and I know their Mom's from high school! Such fun!

We were able to eat outside each night and had awesome meals! James tried halibut, guacamole with chips, nectarines and had a bottle of whole milk on this trip!

James has loved the change in weather and gets so excited to go outside now! We had a pretty good weekend, except I was sick on Saturday, so James spent the day with Daddy and Grammy. Sunday we went to the ball park for a game and he loved being at the park, watching everything, playing with all the dogs and eating of course! Camera battery was dead of course upon arrival:(

On Monday we had Luc over again and I took this hilarious picture of James and him in the double jogging stroller we bought. James loves to sit forward, so decided to propel himself up using Luc's ribs as leverage! Sorry Luc!

James loves all the trees around our neighbourhood and touching all of the bark!

This morning, we went to the zoo. We rode the train around the park and saw some of the exhibits! James' favorite was the giraffes and he thought this one was real!

This one was real! And he squealed and clapped with delight when he moved!

We are off to Victoria for three days tomorrow, so Daddy can finish all our windows in the house! Go Daddy Go!

What a Weekend!

We had a jam-packed weekend of family fun! First we went to the Cloverdale Rodeo to check it out. James loved all the animals and watching people on the rides. Here he is with a goat!

Our friends Roxanne and Yann came by on their way home with Noey, James' girlfriend and her new baby brother, Everett (2 weeks old)! So we had a nice lunch on the patio and a quick play before they drove home to Vernon.

James had tons of time to play in his house (which I found on the side of the road, for FREE over the Easter weekend!) Such a good find!

And lastly, the water park opened up in Brookswood! Yee-haw, hello summer! We also let James have some nudie time around the block (I say block because he ventured next door to water Dave and Bonnie's lawn!) I tricked him into going through our sprinkler, which he didn't seem too bothered by. Ah...I can already picture our summer days!

Since James has been walking, we've ben taking him to a Tot Romp drop-in at the Walnut Grove Community Centre. He loves it and loves the instructor when she sings at the end and pulls out the parachute. He stands in front of her and claps - it's quite cute! Finally took my camera today to catch some action shots! Best part about the outing, is that he's exhausted afterwards and (fingers crossed) has about a two hour nap, which is mutually beneficial:)

Today we celebrated Mother's Day, my first, at Peace Arch Park, where Geoff and I got married! There was tons of flat ground for James to walk on (easier than the beach at this stage) and we lucked out with the weather! James loved going for walks to visit dogs with his Grammy, riding in his car with Auntie Jocey, eating everything and just being outdoors! It was a great afternoon for us (me especially, because I got a 2 hour nap when we got home!) James and Daddy spoiled me with a Spa Utopia gift certificate, which I will gladly use and stretch my hour appointment into three hours of trashy magazine reading, steaming and dried blueberry eating!

Grandma and Papa G were over for Easter and we took James to Aldor Acres. Luckily we picked a day without rain and it was tons of fun. We saw tons of baby animals...among the highlights baby chicks, bunnies and 4 day old piglets (14 of them!)

James loved the hay ride, mostly because it was pulled by a massive tractor that they allowed him to sit on afterwards! What great family fun!

I've been looking on Craigslist for some outdoor Little Tikes play equipment and boy they sure get snapped up quickly! Luckily, I snapped up this climber for James for $35...a steal! He loves going down the slide, trying to climb up the slide, playing the basketball net and shooting 3's from downtown!

So James has been taking a few steps here and there on his own, of course, always when we don't have the camera. Not only that, but I'd rather be close by as a safety net, instead of filming and trying to capture the moment, because as we've learned, even being close by still causes bumps & bruises. We tried to set up the camera to tape him walking in between us, as that is where he does some of his finest work. Hopefully this weekend when we have Geoff's graduation dinner, we can have someone tape it better...but you get the jist & as you can see James thinks he can run!

James has been almost walking these days which is very exciting, but also scary! Are we ready for this? He just doesn't seem to want to walk, but RUN! Oh man...we are in trouble! Like I said, I think we are in trouble once he gets the hang of it!

Neat New Stuff

This past week, James seems to have grown up so much. Sometimes it's hard to watch small changes over a period of time when you see your child everyday. But lately, Geoff and I have been noticing new things everyday. The biggest change in James is his curiousity with things around the house and outside. He loves to stand by the window and see what's going on outside and loves even more when we take him outside (although lately it's just so cold!) Here he is playing in the snow we had last weekend.

I had to get over my nervousness of bathing James in the full tub (we've still been using his baby bath, he sits in it rather than laying down) because I think he's going to slip and knock his head. He seems to really like exploring what is in the tub and touching everything. He hates to have his hair washed, mostly because of the water getting poured over his face.

And lastly, James has found his favorite cupboard - the tupperware! Funnily enough, it's my least favorite cupboard because it's so messy and we have so many lids and bottoms that don't match - but he doesn't know the difference, so we let him have at it! We just put safety pulls on all of the cupboards but he still thinks he can get it open so he pulls and pulls and pulls...bang bang bang!

Grandma came to town!

My Mom came to town this week to help me out because I put my back out and couldn't lift James. Geoff's in school and working full time, so we couldn't have made it through the week without her! After dinner, James loves to get undressed (assisted, of course) and he makes these crazy loud squawks! Geoff 'runs' him around the stairwell (which was recently and finally fitted with a safety gate!) and here's a little video of James chasing his Grandma!

We just got back from a great family trip! It started out with a side trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon, where Geoff bought a new truck. It was a long drive for James, only made easier by the portable DVD purchase, which was well worth the price tag!

We then came back through Seattle and flew to Kauai the next day - a long trip, but well worth it! James even had his own bedroom in the place we stayed! It was an amazing time, spent with 16 of us in the most beautiful location on Secret Beach.

After a week in Kauai, just the three of us went to Maui for a few days. Caught some rays at Big Beach and bummed around Kihei. Here are some of the pics - it was hard to narrow down, so there's lots!

In the last week or so James has learned to crawl somewhat. It looks more like a slitther, although many attempts at moving from hands and knees position are there, just not mastered yet! We feel like it's imminent though and love seeing the new changes he makes everyday! James grunts when he moves, which is very manly!

Yesterday we were invited to James' first birthday party for his friend, Noah, who turned two! The party was at Gymboree, which we were excited to try! James loved it and I hope we can go back, although I did learn that it's quite pricey, so it might be more of a once a month thing. Here are a few pics of James' adventures:

Well, I thought James made a mess when we fed him, but when he was keen to try it himself...man, was I wrong! I guess this is what we are in for:

In other exciting developments...James is trying so hard to crawl and actually made his first move while Skyping his Papa G! He can crawl up on Geoff and I and loves to stand leaning or holding on to whatever he can grab. His favorite is standing on the couch by the window waiting for Dad's truck to come home! Today in his jolly jumper, he tried to climb up his push toy.

We had an awesome visit over the past few days with two of my best friends, Roxy and Amy. But more importantly for James, Roxy's gorgeous daughter Noelle (we call her Noey) came for a visit. Looks like the arranged marriage might be on the rocks already!

I told James that it's ok for men to cry as women like sensitive men, but that he also needed to be a little bit less of a cry-baby, as women tend to walk all over men like that! After kissing and making up, these two had lots of fun playing together for the rest of the visit, which went by entirely too fast!

We're so excited that Roxy's having a boy in May and our great friend Jill is due this month - it's going to be so great to get together with the babies and watch them grow up together! xox

My salute to Grandfathers!

After James was born, a friend of my Dad's asked how much he weighed. When he said 8 lbs 8 oz, the lady said "well he's a lucky baby, 8.8 born in 2008 - apparently three eights are lucky according to Asian culture.

So today I was reflecting about my Grandad (my Mom's Dad), Ken Robinson, as today would have been his birthday and it dawned on me that he would be 88 in 2008! Three eights! I think I was the lucky one there to have him as a Grandad! Excuse my mullet and short shorts!

Today was also a day to remember my Grandpa (my Dad's Dad), James Gordon, who passed away 28 years ago today. Another eight! We love the name James, so it made choosing our son's name very easy because it's a family name! This is the only picture I could find at my house, it's from his wedding day.

This year I am also blessed to know another terrific Grandfather, my Dad. Love you Dad.

Snowed In!

So Geoff is doing a 24 hour shift right now and took my car because it's better in the snow. I am actually trapped at home with James! I think I may be going slightly crazy! I was especially bummed that I had to cancel my massage this afternoon that had been booked for a month. Hmm...what else can James and I do at home? We have run through the gamut of toys, things to poke, people outside to watch, new foods to try (grapefruit through a strainer, quite the face!) I guess it's not that bad - he's happy (and I'm happy he's napping right now) and we are safe and cozy! We have about a foot of snow here now. Maybe we'll venture out for a walk with the Baby Bjorn to see the kids go sledding behind ATV's. I think I'm going to teach James how to say "Papa G, I want ATV" for next year! Pretty sure if James asked, he'd get!!

James discovered his voice and although he plays quietly for the most part - at times he squawks like a baby eagle (or so I think) and I just love the sound of it! Here's a taste!

Staying home on a cold Saturday night while Geoff's at work...so I decided to go through the video camera and pull some cute clips. James quite often will laugh or make happy sounds which turn directly into cries, as evidenced by this little video! Enjoy!

I tried telling James about Santa Clause when I got him to write him a letter and he just laughed and said 'no way Mom, no one can bring all those toys to all those kids in one night!' But today James was a believer! Not only did James get a personal letter in the mail from Santa, but he got to meet him too! Here's the proof!

We took James out to chop down his first Christmas tree yesterday. He bundled up in his reindeer sleeper and was quite the crowd pleaser! Today we decorated the tree and put up a ton of lights to amuse him! Music in the background and lots of reminiscing as we put up all our ornaments! Great first Christmas memories!
