Mmmm...prunes?

Without embarrassing James too much in great detail, we needed to try to get some action going down south...so we tried strained prunes this morning. With cautious optimism, we gave him the first spoonful and to our delight..he LOVED them! Couldn't wait to get the next spoonful in. When he was done, he looked like he'd happily been at an all-you-can-eat-rib fest! James McRibIntyre...or McPruneIntyre I should say!

We also tried him in his new high chair. We actually told him it was a rocket launcher and he didn't cry going into it, as he normally does with most things he's strapped into.

The camera adds 10 pounds!

James loves to hang out in just a diaper and we're happy to let him do so at times. He has also taken a liking to the camera and wants to get it in his mouth as soon as I pull it out. As he lunges for it, I snap and voila...a massive baby emerges! Check out the chub chub!

He also loves to play on our bed, about as much as I like to sleep in my bed (which is rare at times). He's a cute shot of him in the midst of peek-a-boo!

Cutest bum on the block!

I love sleeping on my tummy! Period. No other way is comfortable for me. So when I was pregnant, I really struggled to get a good nights sleep, despite having a comfortable snoogle body pillow.  After I had James, I cautiously rolled onto my tummy and missed the deep satisfying sleep (or maybe that was exhaustion) I would get from sleeping this way. As some of you may know, James isn't the best sleeper and until about two weeks ago, we've been swaddling him to sleep. I began to worry that he would roll over onto his tummy in the night and because he was swaddled, he wouldn't be able to breathe or roll himself onto his back. Geoff and I have been 'sleep training' him without the swaddle wrap and it hasn't been without a few sleepless nights. We're starting to think he's getting the hang of it though and it's easier for us to think of his sleep as 'training' because he needs to know how to self sooth back to sleep once he awakens.  This process has been difficult for him as he always wanted to be nursed back to sleep (which at times has left me nursing him 5, 6, 7 times in the night when Geoff is on the night shift).

In any case, I ramble...James moved onto his tummy last night and had one of his best nights ever! He slept that way for all of his naps today and I just went to check on him and his bum was in the air! So cute, I can hardly stand it! So I removed my flash and tried to take a picture of the cutest bum on the block!

FIRSTS!

James and I just returned from 5 days in Palm Springs! We had a great time, aside from a few hiccups here and there, but I think that's to be expected when traveling with a baby! Here are a few of the highlight pics and some of James' firsts!

Plane ride! Not to bad both ways considering we were alone...he's a busy boy so was very curious and a bit frustrated to be stuck in a small seat the whole time. Thank goodness for the extra seat beside us both ways!

Outdoor Swimming Pools! James loved his borrowed turtle from his friend Noah! Thanks Noah! Even though there was only a 1 foot deep kiddie pool that he was allowed in, we made the most of the time we had out of direct sunlight (after 3:45 pm) and James loved splashing and having water poured all around him. I especially loved having some time in the hot tub while he played with his Grandparents!

And lastly...teeth! Well a tooth that is! Albeit a difficult night of lots of crying and nursing, I felt James' first tooth on Wednesday morning! Even though he appeared in pain sometimes, he still managed to have some fun during the day, as evidenced by his gorgeous smile with his Papa G!

It was a long flight home and all the poop James had saved up for 3 days did decide to come out as soon as we boarded the plane. The first of changing a baby in an airplane bathroom stall is one I'd like to forget! We had a great trip, but I was never so happy as to see Geoff when we came through the airport gates! There's no place like the comforts of home!

What a week!

Wow - it's all I can say! Two great things happened this week and both feel life changing.  Ok, maybe that's a stretch...but man, they are awesome! Firstly, we got a PVR! I think I could be the next commercial spokesperson for them! You can pause live TV & record a whole whack of shows and get this - watch them at your leisure! Baby's crying?  Not a problem... pause and play when you come back! Amazing!

Secondly, and most importantly...James is sleeping longer stretches at night - last night I got 6 hours of UNINTERRUPTED sleep! I haven't had that since I was 6 months pregnant! I feel like a million bucks - especially because after James woke up and I fed him, Geoff let me got back to sleep for another three hours! I feel like myself again! Sleep is life changing!

James and I are off to Palm Springs on Sunday for 5 days and we can't wait! All my shows will be PVR'd for when I get back and hopefully he'll sleep like a dream so that we can swim and play in the pool all day (and nap)!

Who's a happy boy?

James is! He's sleeping better (thank god!) and seems so much happier these days which is so nice and of course what we're always hoping he is! I got a new camera yesterday so was trying it out while he was in his Jolly Jumper and got this great picture that I just love! Thanks Miranda, for the idea for the drool scarf, although we tell James that he's a cowboy! Giddy-up!

YaYa Yum!

The votes are in...pears win the new food vote by an overwhelming 63%! So I found two yaya pears in the fridge and pureed them into some good time yumminess!  I was a little disappointed that no one chose zucchini because I had made and froze tons of it last month! However, not to disappoint James' fans, we decided to try pears and they were A HUGE HIT! He tried to actually eat the spoon he loved them so much!

How soon I forget...

Although James is almost five months and I'm not sure where that time has gone, it has also seemed like forever since he was so tiny! I was flipping through my sister-in-laws facebook pics of him when he was born and just couldn't resist posting some! I can hardly remember him so tiny! They grow too fast! I love how wrinkly his toes are from being inside me! Thanks Genn, for the great pics!

Hello USA, Goodbye line-ups!

Today we received our Nexus cards to make travel to the US easier. We don't do it often but when we do it will be super helpful, especially after a long flight or drive.

James and I are off to Palm Springs in less than two weeks! We can't wait (well except for the flying and crying baby part!)

Memo to James:

When daylight savings comes around that one great night of the year when you are allowed to get one hour 'extra' sleep...just go with it and sleep in buddy!

4:30 came way too early for your Dad this morning!

Video Library

I wanted to post a few videos of James that I had taken since he was born..so here they are!

We caught James in a moment that has never happened again (giggling that is) - hopefully they come back soon because his giggles are too cute! James was 4 months old in this video.
